Everton manager Roberto Martinez has accused Chelsea of trying to unsettle John Stones after the Premier League champions had a £20 million bid for the defender rejected.
Stones, 21, is a target for Jose Mourinho with sources confirming to ESPN FC on Friday that Everton had turned down an offer from Stamford Bridge for the young centre-back.
Speaking after his side's 3-1 Barclays Asia Trophy final defeat to Arsenal in Singapore, Martinez insists Stones will not be sold and criticised the West London club's "methods" in trying to sign defender.
"At Everton, we take pride in developing young players and giving them our own way of football education," he said on Saturday. "Therefore, when a youngster is linked to a big club it is a matter of pride.
"However, Stones will very much be an Everton player. We are not a selling club.
"At Everton, we would not have chosen methods adopted by Chelsea. I am not happy at them having spoken to the media in such a manner."
Stones, signed from Barnsley by David Moyes for £3m in January 2013, started 23 of Everton's 38 league games last season, playing as Phil Jagielka's regular partner at centre-back.
Chelsea captain John Terry said last month that he was "a big fan" of the 21-year-old, but Stones -- who signed a five-year contract in 2014 -- said at a fan event in Singapore on Thursday night that he is "very happy" at Goodison Park.
"My aim right now is try and nail down a regular spot in the Everton team and hopefully that will take care of playing for England," he added. "I have to keep learning from the likes of Phil Jagielka and keep progressing at the club."
Everton had been linked with a move for Manchester United centre-back Jonny Evans, but Martinez has denied that is the case.
Martinez also told reporters that he intends to "build a team of younger players who are proud to wear the Everton shirt."
Stones, who has four senior England caps, played for his country at the European Under-21 Championship in the Czech Republic in June.
