Transfer Talk: Manchester United back in the hunt for David Brooks

The winter transfer window is closed, but now it's time to look ahead to the summer! Here are the new rumours floating around Europe's big leagues and beyond.

TOP STORY: Manchester United eye Brooks bargain

Bournemouth are looking to sell stars including Callum Wilson, Josh King and David Brooks in the summer, and Manchester United could be set to rekindle their interest in the latter, according to the Sun.

Brooks, 22, will be a wanted man if the Cherries give him the green light to move on. He played 33 games in all competitions last season and scored seven goals, adding five assists, but he has missed this campaign with a serious ankle injury.

However, United and Tottenham Hotspur are both keen to seize upon the sale on the south coast and add Brooks to their midfield weaponry.

The Sun reports that Bournemouth are changing tactics in terms of their transfer strategy and, instead of signing players with big reputations for big fees, they'll be looking to sign younger players they can sell for a profit.

As well as Wilson, King and Brooks, Bournemouth look set to shift Dominic Solanke and Jordon Ibe too.

21.23 BST: Jadon Sancho's refusal to move to Stamford Bridge this summer could open the door for former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho to join Frank Lampard's Chelsea side, reports Sport in Spain. Coutinho, of course, is on loan at Bayern Munich from Barcelona.

20.13 BST: Atletico Madrid are mulling a move for Napoli and Mexico forward Hirving Lozano this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Lozano joined the club for €42m in the most recent summer window but the outlet says he's ready for a change after receiving just eight Serie A starts this season.

Valencia, Sevilla and Everton are also said to be in the mix for the 24-year-old.

19.01 BST: Mundo Deportivo are reporting Napoli have reduced the desired fee for Fabian Ruiz -- coveted by both Barcelona and Real Madrid -- to €60m

Previously, Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis had been seeking offers of €80m.

17.41 BST: AC Milan are "dreaming" of signing Mauro Icardi from eternal rivals Inter Milan, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Per the report, Milan could reap the benefits of an impasse between Inter and Juventus. The Argentina international and former Inter captain is currently at Paris Saint-Germain, who have a €70m option to buy.

16.15 BST: Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is one of the most sought-after players in the world, with almost every top club in Europe after him.

But despite rejecting reported bids of €100m over the past year, TuttoNapoli reports that the club are willing to sell for €80m in the summer.

Koulibaly, 28, has mainly been linked with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, but all clubs now seemingly know how much they will need to pay for the Senegal international.

14.53 BST: West Ham United defender Issa Diop has told the club he wants to leave this summer, says TEAMtalk.

Diop, 23, signed from Toulouse for £22m in 2018 and is now valued at around £60m, with Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal all keen. The France U211 international is also being watched by Atletico Madrid, according to AS.

13.30 BST: Manchester United are no longer interested in Tottenham striker Harry Kane, says the Daily Express.

Kane, 26, has been linked with a move away from Spurs, despite having a contract which expires in 2024 and a fee that would likely break the world record at around £200m.

The England striker wants to win trophies and now only Manchester City and Real Madrid are interested.

12.24 BST: Leicester City, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have joined Aston Villa in the race for Angers midfielder Baptiste Santamaria, says ABC.

Santamaria has impressed in Ligue 1 and has also caught the eye of Sevilla and Villarreal. However, Villa had a €10m offer rejected in January and now they have plenty of competition for the 25-year-old.

11.26 BST: Inter Milan have offered Lautaro Martinez a new contract in a bid to keep him away from Barcelona, but the striker has rejected it.

Sport reports that the 22-year-old was offered around €4m a year to stay, but Barca are ready to hand him €10m a year to move to Camp Nou.

The Argentina international has scored 16 goals for Inter this season and is viewed as the long-term replacement for Luis Suarez. He also has a €111m release clause in his contract and has attracted interest from Man City, Chelsea and PSG, but reports suggest his heart is set on Barcelona.

"My goal was to go to Chelsea. But Real Madrid ended badly with them," the 36-year-old winger, now playing in Turkey with Istanbul Basaksehir, told Marca. "They didn't like Chelsea selling shirts with my name on them before the deal was concluded.

"I don't regret leaving Madrid. But I'm sorry I made a mistake with them when I left. Madrid was the club that opened my doors and offered me the opportunity to conquer Europe. I lacked the maturity and the ability to stop, think with a mind and consider the consequences before making decisions. Only age and experience can give you this."

10.04 BST: Reports last month had suggested that Ajax's Donny van de Beek had agreed a €55m move to Real Madrid in the summer, but the Dutchman says nothing is final yet.

Van de Beek, 22, has also been attracting interest from Manchester United, who will be pleased to hear they still have a chance to sign the midfielder.

"Playing in the sun is always nice, but no, I haven't started taking Spanish classes," he told Helden magazine.

"I still haven't said 'yes' to anyone, it's all open. I know what I have here, I'm loved by Ajax and I love Ajax. My feeling should be positive at a club, not only that they want me but also that I fit in their system of play. Of course, I also want to know the game time they will give me."

While there had been suggestion that a €55m deal was already agreed with Real, the player himself admits that he is yet to decide his future.

"Nothing is official [with Real Madrid]. There is no contract," he added. "That is the situation. That has not changed throughout the season.

"I don't want to choose. Both are great clubs, but as I said before, Ajax is also a great club. Therefore, there is nothing to choose from. Everything would be very good."

09.40 BST: Freiburg centre-back Robin Koch has been attracting attention from West Ham, says the Daily Star.

Koch, 23, has been scouted by Tottenham, Norwich and Leeds this season but the Hammers are now ready to enter the chase. Freiburg rejected a €20m offer from Leipzig in January, with Koch saying recently: "No-one knows what will happen next. It is clear that I want to take the next step."

09.00 BST: Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser has a contract which ends in the summer and TEAMtalk says that Arsenal are confident of signing him.

Fraser, 26, has been linked with the Gunners over the past 12 months and admitted that his form this season has taken a dip as a result of all the speculation. But that speculation could end this summer if he moves on.

Clubs battle it out for Gotze

Roma have joined a host of clubs in the chase for World Cup winner Mario Gotze, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Gotze is due to leave Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer at the end of the season and clubs across Europe are falling over themselves to add his experience to their squad.

The Germany forward has scored three goals in 13 appearances this season and is unlikely to be offered a new contract, and so he is set leave on July 1 after his existing contract expires.

Roma director Gianluca Petrachi has already held discussions with the player, according to Corriere dello Sport, though the Italians face pressure from AC Milan, Everton and West Ham United.

The 27-year-old is keen to stay in Europe at this stage of his career and reignite his stalling form on the big stage, rather than move to MLS or Qatar.

Firpo out, Kurzawa in at Barcelona?

Sport are suggesting it could be all change in the left-back area at Barca, as they report that Napoli are interested in Junior Firpo, while Barca themselves are looking at signing Paris Saint-Germain's Layvin Kurzawa to compete with Jordi Alba.

Napoli sporting director Cristian Giuntoli has enquired about how about much Firpo might cost, and the club is allegedly planning on making an offer in the next few weeks.

Napoli don't have a huge transfer kitty to spend, and the coronavirus outbreak will have hampered that further, but Firpo is their No. 1 priority. They have explored the option of getting him on loan, but Barca want a permanent deal.

Meanwhile, Barca are keen on Napoli's Fabian, but the predicted £100m price tag is too steep; so instead, they're looking at Kurzawa, who is out of contract this summer.

Kurzawa is represented by Kia Joorabchian and Barca have had positive reports on a player who they feel is good enough to challenge Alba.

- Marca believes that wantaway Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic will stay in Spain and sign for Atletico Madrid. Atletico are looking for players out of contract this summer in a bid to avoid spending huge fees, and Rakitic certainly fits the bill. Atletico were interested in signing him in both 2011 and 2014, but now the Croatian might feel the time is right as he looks to stay in La Liga.

- AC Milan are on the hunt for a new striker this summer, and at the top of the wanted list is Arkadiusz Milik, reports Calciomercato. The Poland international's contract expires in 2021, though Napoli aren't prepared to sell him for less than €40m.
