Tottenham complete Sessegnon deal for £25m

Following Tottenham's loan moves for Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso, ESPN FC's Steve Nicol explains how Mauricio Pochettino will utilise both players.
Our ESPN FC panel give their Premier League predictions, including some surprising picks for top 6 and player of the year.
Craig Burley and the FC crew weigh in on the reports that Tottenham are close to signing Paulo Dybala from Juventus.

Tottenham Hotspur have signed England Under-21 international Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham on a five-year deal.

Spurs have agreed a fee of £25 million with the Championship side for the player, in a deal that could rise to £30m. Spurs also have an option to extend Sessegnon's contract by a further year.

"We are delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham," Tottenham's website said after the official closing of the English transfer window.

Sessegnon, 19, is a left winger who is also comfortable playing on the left side of midfield and in attack.

Spurs academy prospect Josh Onomah has moved in the other direction as part of the deal.

Onomah, 22, spent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday where he made 15 appearances in the Championship.

Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan said the club had tried everything to keep Sessegnon at Craven Cottage for another season.

"When a player expresses a desire to explore a new opportunity, and our attempts to change his mind are unsuccessful, then the priority is making sure that we get the right deal for the Club," Khan said. "That is what I've done."

"We wish Ryan well on his next chapter and we'll continue working to get the club back to the Premier League."

Sessegnon was first linked with a move away from Fulham after he scored 16 Championship goals as a 17-year-old to help the club earn promotion to the Premier League in 2017.

But despite interest from Spurs and manager Mauricio Pochettino, among other top Premier League sides, Sessegnon remained at his hometown club and made 26 Premier League appearances last season, scoring two goals, as Fulham were relegated back to the Championship.

Sessegnon, who has made 10 appearances for England U21s, joins midfielder Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke in joining Spurs this summer.
