Sources: Man Utd set to sign £50m Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United have agreed a £50 million deal to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka after making significant progress in talks with Crystal Palace on Tuesday, sources have told ESPN FC.

An offer for the 21-year-old right-back has been accepted by Palace and negotiations are far enough along for United to organise a medical at Carrington this week.

- When does the transfer window close?

United will pay £45m up front with an extra £5m in add-on fees.

Wan-Bissaka, who has returned from the Under-21 European Championship after England's early exit, will become the club's second summer signing after Dan James and the fourth most expensive in their history after Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Angel Di Maria.

He should be a United player in time to play some part on the summer tour of Australia, Singapore, China and Norway.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finally got his man after weeks of negotiations between executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and Palace chairman Steve Parish.

Two bids of £35m and £40m were rejected before United agreed to Palace's demand to pay a higher portion of the fee up front.

Woodward returned with a fresh offer on Tuesday that was accepted by Parish.

Wan-Bissaka is set to sign a five-year deal, with the option of another 12 months, worth around £80,000-a-week.

He was earmarked as Solskjaer's top full-back target this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain's Thomas Meunier was also monitored in case a deal could not be agreed but that interest is now set to be dropped.

Solskjaer is also keen to add a centre-back and at least one midfielder to his squad before the new season starts in August.

The move to Old Trafford caps a remarkable rise for Wan-Bissaka, who only made his senior debut in February 2018.

He was named Palace's player of the year last season after impressing during 35 Premier League appearances for his boyhood club.

He will compete with Ashley Young and Diogo Dalot to start at right-back for United next season.

Matteo Darmian is set to leave with the club open to offers for the 29-year-old, who has a year left on his contract. Valencia and Juventus have both expressed an interest in the Italian.
