Llorente to depart Real Madrid with Premier League on the horizon - source

Marcos Llorente will leave Real Madrid this summer with several Premier League clubs interested in his services, a source close to the player has told ESPN FC.

Llorente has made only six league appearances this season, 15 in all competitions, and Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is not counting on having the midfielder in his squad for the 2019-20 campaign.

Diario AS reported that Llorente is a target for Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, although the latter are banned by FIFA from making any signings for the next two transfer windows.

Llorente has not yet, however, received concrete offers from Premier League clubs.

According to the source, Madrid have yet to make a decision on whether Llorente will leave on loan, whether a purchase option will be included in the deal or if he will depart on a permanent transfer this summer.

A youth product of Madrid, Llorente is considered an attractive option for clubs because of his age.

The 24-year-old already impressed while on a season-long loan in the 2016-17 at La Liga side Deportivo Alaves, where he made 33 appearances.

Llorente is tied to Madrid until June 2021.

Zidane recently suggested players that know they will not feature regularly next season would be better served leaving the club.

Marca wrote this week that Llorente is among the players told by Zidane that he is surplus to requirements.

Llorente had reportedly wanted to leave Madrid on loan last summer after making a total of 20 appearances in the 2017-18 campaign but then coach Julen Lopetegui convinced him to stay.

Lopetegui was sacked by Madrid on Oct. 29 and replaced by Santiago Solari.

Solari was fired on March 11 with the club struggling and Zidane returned to the Bernabeu stadium 10 months after stepping down.
