Bournemouth sign Liverpool striker Solanke, take Clyne on loan

Bournemouth have completed the permanent transfer of Dominic Solanke from Liverpool and also signed Nathaniel Clyne on loan until the end of the season.

Bournemouth announced the Solanke deal on Friday, with the switch worth £19 million plus add-ons, according to a source.

"I think the club is going somewhere," Solanke told Bournemouth's official website. "Over the past few years, they have been really good in the Premier League and had some good positional finishes as well. I think it's a good club to be at, especially for someone of my age."

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe added: "Dominic is technically gifted, very athletic and has the physical profile that will give us something different in our front line. He has done very well for England at various age groups, has a huge amount of potential and I'm really excited about working with him."

Crystal Palace were interested in a loan move for Solanke until their manager Roy Hodgson said on Wednesday that any potential deal was off due to "complications".

Solanke has been sidelined with a muscle issue of late, but a source said the injury is not thought to be serious. The one-cap England international had not featured at all for Liverpool this season.

Meanwhile, Clyne will spend the rest of the 2018-19 campaign on the south coast as he sought more regular game-time.

"I'm really excited by this opportunity. It's great chance for me to come and play football," Clyne said.

"I've spoken to the manager and we've talked about what we can achieve for the remainder of the season. It's a great club with a great story. I can't wait to get going."

The 27-year-old, who also drew interest from Cardiff City, has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield due to injuries and the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is now left with just one recognised right-back, in Alexander-Arnold, available for selection at this present moment.

However, Gomez is closing in on a return from a lower leg fracture, with Liverpool also possessing unorthodox options in cover.

James Milner was used as a right-back in the recent win at Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Fabinho operated there during large spells of his time at Monaco. Rafael Camacho also played as a wing-back during preseason.

Youngster Ki-Jana Hoever, a summer signing from Ajax, has impressed in the position during his appearances for Liverpool's under-18s and U23s sides.

Hoever, who turns 17 later this month, has been training with the first team at Melwood since December.

The defender was scheduled to play in a youth tournament in Germany for the U18s this weekend. However, a source has told ESPN FC that Klopp is considering whether to name him in the squad for Monday's third-round FA Cup tie at Wolves.
