Arsenal, Chelsea monitoring Rochdale youngster Daniel Adshead - sources

Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea are eyeing moves for Rochdale teenager Daniel Adshead, sources close to the League One club have told ESPN FC.

Adshead has been earning rave reviews since breaking into the first-team this season at the age of 16.

The talented midfielder became the youngest player in Rochdale's history this season when he made his debut against Bury in the Checkatrade Trophy last September.

Adshead has gone on to make six further appearances in all competitions for Rochdale and he is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects to emerge in the Football League.

Rochdale boss Keith Hill has helped develop the likes of John Stones, Craig Dawson, Danny Drinkwater and Scott Hogan during his managerial career and he has already seen the promise of Adshead to include him in his first-team plans despite his tender years.

A host of England's top clubs have been aware of Adshead's talents for some time with the teenager training with the first-team during the school holidays since the age of 14.

Arsenal and Chelsea have regularly sent their scouts to watch the midfielder in action at Rochdale and they have made enquiries about Adshead as they look to steal a march on their rivals for his signature.

Rochdale are reluctant to lose Adshead, but are bracing themselves for offers for their prize asset due to the growing interest in the exciting teenager.
