AC Milan deny interest in selling Suso amid links to Liverpool return

AC Milan have dismissed speculation linking Suso with a move to Liverpool this winter, saying they would not even accept an offer of €80 million for him in the current transfer window.

Suso joined Liverpool from Cadiz in 2010 but was unable to break into their first team on a regular basis. After a spell on loan with Almeria, he joined Milan in 2015 and penned a new contract through to 2022 with the Rossoneri in the summer.

That deal includes a clause in his contract whereby he can leave in the summer for €40m, or €50m if Milan qualify for the Champions League.

But Milan said in a statement on their website in response to a report by Tuttosport that the Spanish midfielder was eyeing a winter move by insisting they have no intention of letting him leave just six months after signing that deal.

"Milan were very clear with Suso in the summer: We're not selling you even for €80 million," the statement said. "That was how the outstanding Spaniard was convinced in September to sign a new contract in what was a very important operation for Milan.

"All the Rossoneri players mentioned today and these days as potential transfer targets are absolutely part of the project, from [Lucas] Biglia to [Nikola] Kalinic and [Manuel] Locatelli."

Suso has scored five goals in 18 Serie A outings this season, adding a further goal in the Europe League and netting one in the Coppa Italia.

The 24-year-old also made his senior debut for Spain last November, featuring in the 3-3 friendly draw with Russia.

He has been linked with a return to Merseyside following the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona last week.
