Idrissa Gueye agrees new long-term Everton contract - sources

Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye has agreed a new five-year deal at the club, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Gueye has been locked in talks over a new deal for several weeks and an agreement has now been reached.

Senegal international Gueye has impressed since his arrival from Aston Villa in the summer of 2016 and made 35 appearances in all competitions in his debut season at Goodison Park last term and he has become a big fans' favourite with the Everton faithful

Everton have decided to reward Gueye for his progress in his first year at the club with improved terms to bring him in line with other top earners at the club and recognise his importance to the first-team.

News of Gueye's new deal will come as a welcome boost to the club after a difficult week following the sacking of manager Ronald Koeman on Monday.
