Vancouver Whitecaps sign Nigeria international Nosa Igiebor

The Vancouver Whitecaps have signed Nigeria international midfielder Nosa Igiebor to replace the injured Matias Laba.

Igiebor, 26, joins the club for the remainder of the season, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate, work permit and visa.

Vancouver have club options in 2018 and 2019 to extend the deal for the former Real Betis man, who will occupy an international roster slot as Laba moves to the disabled list.

"Nosa is a box-to-box midfielder who brings a lot of experience having played in some of the top leagues in the world," Whitecaps coach Carl Robinson said in a club statement.

"When you have an opportunity to bring in a player with this pedigree, you take it. Nosa adds competition for places in our midfield, which will only help strengthen our group."

Igiebor has played for Lillestrom, Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv among other clubs. He last played for Turkish side Rizespor.
