Manchester City will consider making a fresh bid for Alexis Sanchez in the January transfer window but Raheem Sterling will not be included as part of any deal, sources have told ESPN FC.
City remain interested in Sanchez, 28, despite a £60 million deal with Arsenal collapsing on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The Chile forward is in the final year of his contract and will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.
He can begin negotiating a contract with foreign clubs in January but City boss Pep Guardiola remains hopeful that the Etihad Stadium will remain his preferred destination.
They could make a fresh cash-only bid for him in January, which is likely to be considerably less than the offer of £55m plus £5m in add-ons that Arsenal had initially accepted on deadline day.
Guardiola has only two recognised strikers in his squad -- Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus -- and would like another option going into the second half of the season.
But Sterling will not be part of any deal, with sources telling ESPN FC that the 22-year-old remains an integral part of Guardiola's plans for the future.
Arsenal were interested in taking the England international as part of the Sanchez deal but City insist he is not leaving the club.
Sterling has just been voted the club's Player of the Month after two goals in City's opening three games but will miss this Saturday's game against former side Liverpool after being sent off for celebrating his late winner against Bournemouth.
He has three years remaining on his contract and is one of the few homegrown players at the club.
