Tottenham are poised to complete a £23 million deal for Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier, with Press Association Sport reporting that the player has received the all-clear to work in the UK.
Spurs agreed a fee with PSG and personal terms with Aurier last week, but the deal was delayed while the Home Office decided whether to grant the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international a UK visa and work permit.
The North London club had expected to discover the decision at around noon on Wednesday, and shortly after that time the player suggested on Twitter that the necessary clearance had been received.
Soon afterwards, French newspaper L'Equipe reported that Aurier would travel to Spurs and sign a five-year contract in the next few hours.
In November, he was barred from entering the UK for PSG's Champions League game at Arsenal following a late decision by the Home Office, with PSG condemning it as "incomprehensible" and a "flagrant lack of respect for the club."
In May 2016, Aurier was arrested in Paris for assaulting a police officer outside a nightclub.
He was given a two-month "convertible" prison sentence, which his lawyers have argued he will never have to serve, a €600 fine and a €1,500 damages bill.
Aurier maintains his innocence and has appealed.
Spurs have been in the market for a new right-back after selling Kyle Walker to Manchester City in July in a deal that could be worth up to £50m.
Sources have told ESPN FC that they will also announce a deal for Argentina under-20 defender Juan Foyth before Thursday's deadline.
