Paris Saint-Germain interested in Napoli keeper Pepe Reina - agent

PARIS -- Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina this summer, the player's agent has said.

Manuel Garcia Quilon told Foot Mercato that PSG were interested in the 34-year-old Spain international.

"I can tell you simply that PSG's interest is real," Quilon said. "Only the two clubs will be able to confirm if there is an offer or not.

"What is certain is that Pepe will not be extending his Napoli contract."

PSG are reported to have an agreement with Reina for a two-year deal but have seen an initial offer of €5 million, plus the season-long loan of Alphonse Areola, rejected.

Areola has started the season as PSG's first choice, but the youth academy graduate suffered some shaky moments at home to Toulouse despite a Neymar-inspired PSG winning 6-2.

It appears PSG coach Unai Emery, whose options include Areola and Kevin Trapp, would prefer to bring in a more experienced goalkeeper.

Emery has also replaced former goalkeeping coach Nicolas Dehon with Javi Garcia.
