PSG set to sign Brazilian teenager Wendel from Fluminese - source

Paris Saint-Germain are in advanced talks to sign Fluminense midfielder Wendel, a Brazilian source has told ESPN FC.

The 19-year-old, whose full name is Marcus Wendel Valle da Silva, is one of Brazilian football's most promising young talents and already has three goals and two assists to his name in the current 2017 Brazilian league season.

According to the source, Wendel's PSG move is now just a matter of details after a verbal agreement was reached.

Fluminense's president and general manager were in Paris between Sunday and Tuesday and during that time they reached an agreement with PSG sporting director Antero Henrique over a €10 million plus bonuses fee for the player.

However, the source also indicated that the deal will be similar to those PSG have struck in order to sign the likes of Lucas Moura from Sao Paulo and Giovani Lo Celso from Rosario Central in the past because it would involve the player staying with his current club for a few more months on loan.

Although PSG are set to complete the signing of Wendel shortly, the plan is for him to link up with his new teammates in January 2018 at the earliest.

It could even be that Wendel does not actually move to Paris until next summer, giving him the best part of an extra 12 months with Fluminense.

The deal for Wendel is not expected to impact PSG's current transfer plans and the source insisted that Henrique is still pushing very hard to bring Brazil international Fabinho to Parc des Princes from Monaco before the end of the month.
