Monaco fans hit out at Kylian Mbappe's reported wage demands in statement

Monaco fans are losing patience with Kylian Mbappe and have told their club that the teenage forward is not worth the money he is demanding.

Mbappe, 18, has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, with Monaco's Ligue 1 rivals reportedly needing to spend at least €180 million to bring the France international to the Parc des Princes. Mbappe has reportedly already agreed terms with PSG on a five-year deal worth €18m-a-year after tax.

French media have also suggested he could extend his Monaco contract, signed only last summer and which runs through to 2019, if he is given the highest after-tax wage at the club, superior to the estimated €7m net earned by Radamel Falcao.

That would cost Monaco a significant amount more than they pay the Colombia international given Mbappe would be taxed on his income as a French citizen, unlike Falcao.

The Monaco Ultras 1994 say the teenager, who has played just 41 Ligue 1 games and scored 16 goals, is being unreasonable, though they suggested should Mbappe leave, he should not be allowed to join PSG.

"Recently, we learned with stupefaction and indignation the numbers talked about in the media concerning the transfer of Kylian Mbappe, but also those of his salary to extend his contract with our club. We feel that no player is worth so many million euros," the supporters' group said in a statement.

"We cannot accept that one of our players allows themselves to behave in this way and ask for such sums without having proven anything at all after just some tens of professional matches.

"We would also like to remind Kylian Mbappe and his clan that nothing and no one is above the institution AS Monaco FC.

"With this in mind, we sincerely hope our board will take the decision that has to be taken to close this matter if those salary demands are confirmed while also taking into consideration that it's essential not to strengthen our title rivals.

"Since their arrival, they have proven their competence to us and we firmly believe they will build a team capable of defending our title, with or without Mbappe."
