PSG target Neymar cancels China event over 'transfer issues'

Barcelona star Neymar has cancelled a "meet and greet" promotion in China because he is "busy with transfer issues," according to a company involved in the event.

A source had told ESPN FC that Paris Saint-Germain target Neymar was not expected to fly back to Barcelona with the squad following Saturday's game against Real Madrid as he planned to head to China to satisfy promotional obligations.

However, Chinese travel company Ctrip said the Brazil international will no longer be making an appearance in Shanghai on Monday due to issues relating to his future.

The company said on its Weibo account: "It is with great pity that we announce the cancellation of the 'meet and greet' event with Neymar, which was predicted to happen next July 31.

"Mr. Neymar and his staff are currently busy with transfer issues and failed to secure their presence on Monday in Shanghai, which is why we decided to cancel the event. We will refund the entire amount of money spent and offer our customers adequate compensation."

Neymar has been filmed clashing with a Barcelona teammate in training as speculation increases that he is set to make the switch to Paris.

PSG right-back Dani Alves, who played alongside Neymar at Barca, felt compelled to deny claims that he is trying to pressure his compatriot into joining him in the French capital.

A source told ESPN FC at the weekend that Neymar and his father have agreed a contract with PSG and it is up to the club to find a way to complete the move without falling foul of financial fair play rules.

UEFA's FFP head has since told L'Equipe he believes PSG will have "done their sums well."
