Inter Milan secure signing of defender Milan Skriniar from Sampdoria

Inter Milan have completed their first signing of the summer with Milan Skriniar arriving from Sampdoria on a five-year deal.

Skriniar, 22, joins Inter just 18 months after arriving in Italian football from MSK Zilina, with Sampdoria reported to have made a sizeable profit on their €1 million outlay.

Inter are said to have paid up to €30m for the Slovakia international, including bonuses, although they gave no indication over the fee when welcoming the player to the club with an announcement on their official website.

"The Slovakian has penned a five-year deal after the Nerazzurri agreed a fee with Sampdoria for the permanent transfer of the defender," the statement read.

"Welcome to Milan, Mr Skriniar! Best of luck at Inter!"

Skriniar, who finished last season as the youngest defender to have made at least 35 appearances in Serie A, was named in UEFA's Team of the Tournament at this summer's European Under-21 Championship.

Skriniar goes in the opposite direction to Gianluca Caprari, who joined Sampdoria at the end of last month for a fee in the region of €15m.
