Vicente Iborra looking forward to making Leicester move from Sevilla

Vicente Iborra says he could not turn down the chance to play in the Premier League and added that Leicester City is the right club for him.

Sevilla announced on Tuesday they had reached an agreement to sell their captain to the 2015-16 Premier League champions for an undisclosed fee, subject to a medical.

Iborra, who has scored 30 goals in 172 games during his four seasons at Sevilla, told the La Liga club's official website: "It's a project that really attracts me. It's a club that wants to grow, like Sevilla, and that has shown a lot of interest in me. I'm grateful to them, too.

"I know it's going to be good for me and for my family to experience such a vibrant league as the Premier League is."

Leicester broke the hearts of Sevilla fans last season when they beat them 3-2 on aggregate to reach the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

"Destiny is whimsical," Iborra said. "I'm thinking about my family's future and that is the reason that I've decided to move on.

"The club has understood this was the best situation for everyone and we have reached an agreement. At no time did we want to end things badly and if I had to leave, I was going to do it in the best possible way. Now I will be farther away but my support from the distance will be there.

"It's going to be difficult to leave Sevilla but I depart happy with what I've achieved."

Iborra arrived at Sevilla in the summer of 2013 from home club Levante and won three Europa Leagues at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

The 29-year-old attracted the attention of several clubs, including Leicester, following strong 2016-17 campaign with Sevilla. He scored seven goals and set up two more in 31 league appearances, 12 as a starter, to help the Andalusian outfit finish fourth in La Liga and clinch a Champions League qualifying spot.

"One has reached an age where opportunities come by and it was my time to take it," he said.

But Iborra stressed that his time at Sevilla has been positive.

"I've always said that at Sevilla, I have everything and I've been very happy here," he said. "I've experienced everything I wanted and much more, giving all the confidence back that the club had given to me."
