Arturo Vidal urges Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez to join him at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal has urged Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez to join him at "the best team in the world."

Vidal, a Chile international teammate of Sanchez, has won the Bundesliga twice in consecutive seasons at Bayern.

Sanchez, however, was left disappointed on Sunday as Arsenal failed to finish in the Premier League's top four for the first time in 20 years, meaning they miss out on next season's Champions League.

Sanchez is out of contract next year, and reports have linked him with a £55 million summer move to Munich.

And Vidal told Sport: "Of course I would like him to come because he is an extraordinary player.

"He is doing a great job at Arsenal. I think he still needs to take that step forward to fight to be among the best in the world and, in order for that to happen, he has to join the best team in the world.

"Whenever they [Bayern executives] have asked me, I've always said that he is the player that needs to arrive here. He has one year left on his contract. Everyone wants him now because it's easier to pay that money now rather than if he had three years left on his contract.

"We hope he takes the best decision for him and for Chile too, because he is a player that helps us a lot."

Vidal said he felt Sanchez "would do very well here" and added that Arsenal "are not as strong as other big clubs at the moment."

Meanwhile, a tweet posted by the Chile FA -- later taken down -- listed Sanchez as a Bayern Munich player in the country's Confederations Cup squad.

The error came in a graphic posted on Sunday and was swiftly corrected.
