West Ham close in on move for Man City's Pablo Zabaleta - sources

West Ham United are confident of securing a deal for Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta, sources close to the London club have told ESPN FC.

Zabaleta will leave City in the summer when his contract expires after nine years at the Etihad Stadium.

West Ham are leading the race for the 32-year-old, with manager Slaven Bilic having identified a new right-back as a key priority.

The club have spoken to his representatives about a move to the London Stadium and are ready to offer him a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.

West Ham have used Michail Antonio and Havard Nordtveit at right-back this season, while both Sam Byram and Alvaro Arbeloa have struggled to make an impact.
