Everton eye move for Brighton winger Anthony Knockaert - sources

Everton are lining up a move for Brighton winger Anthony Knockaert in the summer, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Knockaert enjoyed an outstanding season as Brighton won promotion from the Championship, scoring 15 goals and being named as the division's Player of the Year.

Everton are in the market for a new winger with Gerard Deulofeu, Aaron Lennon and Aiden McGeady all expected to leave the club and Yannick Bolaise continuing his recovery from a serious knee injury.

Knockaert has emerged as a key target and Everton director of football Steve Walsh knows the player, having signed him for Leicester City when he was chief scout at the King Power Stadium.

The 25-year-old has established himself as Brighton's star man and was rewarded with a new deal in March.

The Seagulls are keen to keep hold of him, but Everton are ready to test their resolve with an offer in excess of £20 million.
