Kieran Trippier set for improved Tottenham contract offer - sources

Tottenham are planning to offer Kieran Trippier a new deal as reward for his progress, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.

Trippier started Sunday's 2-0 North London derby win over Arsenal ahead of regular right-back Kyle Walker and he also started last week's FA Cup semifinal defeat to Chelsea.

The defender still has three years to run on his current deal after signing a five-year contract when he joined Tottenham from Burnley in 2015, but the club are keen to secure his long-term future.

A number of Tottenham stars, including, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Hugo Lloris, Kyle Walker, Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen, Ben Davies and Harry Winks have all signed new deals this season, and Tottenham plan to reward Trippier with fresh terms.

Trippier has found himself as second-choice to Walker at right-back during the last couple of seasons and he has found it hard to hold down a regular place in Mauricio Pochettino's starting XI.

The 26-year-old has only started four Premier League games so far this season due to the form of Walker, but when called upon he has impressed and is seen as a vital part of Pochettino's plans going forward.

Tottenham are especially keen to keep hold of Trippier amid speculation linking Walker with a possible move away from White Hart Lane this summer.
