Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski is not Man United's 'plan B' - agent

Robert Lewandowski's agent has told ESPN FC that there is nothing in the rumours linking the Bayern Munich striker with Manchester United.

On Tuesday, The Independent reported that Manchester United's hopes of signing Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann are slowly fading and that instead Jose Mourinho's side could turn to either Lewandowski or Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe.

However, the prolific Poland international, who only in December signed a new deal at Bayern Munich, is not interested in making the move to Premier League, according to agent Maik Barthel.

"Does any top player in the world want to be a plan B?" he replied when questioned about the rumour by ESPN FC, ruling out the link to Old Trafford.

The original report said that Lewandowski would be "an especially attractive signing" given the Poland captain's status as a world star, and that United were considering testing Bayern's resolve to not sell the 2015-16 Bundesliga top scorer.

Lewandowski, 28, has scored a total of 140 Bundesliga goals for Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in 217 appearances over the last six-and-half-years. This term, he has so far struck 19 goals in the domestic league plus a further 11 in the Champions League and DFB Pokal.
