Paris Saint-Germain considering move for Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez - source

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal this summer but there are a number of factors that could dictate whether or a bid from the Ligue 1 champions materialises, a source close to the French club has told ESPN FC.

Sanchez was named as a substitute by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Liverpool, with subsequent reports claiming that decision was a disciplinary matter rather than a tactical decision, as Wenger insisted after the match.

Patrick Kluivert, PSG's director of football, is already considering potential summer transfer window targets -- including some big names -- but the outcome of the next few months will influence an actual move for the 28-year-old Chile international, the source said.

PSG are currently in a rich vein of form following the recent performances of their attack after the 4-0 Champions League round-of-16 first-leg thrashing of Barcelona and the 5-1 mauling of bitter rivals Marseille at the Stade Velodrome in Ligue 1 last months.

Key to improved results since the start of 2017 have been Edinson Cavani's continued good form in front of goal, Angel Di Maria's rejuvenation, the January signing of Julian Draxler and the fact that Lucas Moura is -- statistically speaking -- having the best season of his career.

More recently, injury prone playmaker Javier Pastore's return to form and fitness has been like a new signing joining Unai Emery's squad and Les Parisiens' ranks are suddenly much stronger than they were a few months ago when news of interest in Sanchez first surfaced.

In order for PSG to accommodate the former Udinese and Barcelona man, one of Cavani, Di Maria, Lucas, Pastore or in-form Draxler would have to make do with more time as a substitute.

With Uruguay international Cavani finally hitting the heights expected of him since his arrival from Napoli back in the summer of 2013, it is more likely to be Di Maria, Lucas, Pastore or Draxler who find their playing time limited by a potential deal for Sanchez.

L'Equipe recently reported Di Maria's unhappiness at PSG's attempts to push him toward a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League during the January transfer window, and a move may be reignited in the summer.

The six-time Ligue 1 title-holders are keen on Sanchez and have sounded him out through intermediaries regarding his possible interest, which met with a positive response, according to the source.
