Christian Pulisic extends Borussia Dortmund deal until 2020

U.S. international Christian Pulisic has extended his contract at Borussia Dortmund by a year, tying him to the club until 2020.

Pulisic, 18, has been strongly linked with Liverpool over recent months but Dortmund ruled out a potential sale last month and he has now committed his future to the German club.

"I still need to learn a lot," Pulisic said on the club's official website. "I have the best conditions for it here at Dortmund, and I have the chance to play in front of over 80,000 people. We have the best fans in the world. It can't get better than this."

Speaking on a Facebook Live chat last month, the winger had not ruled out a move to the Premier League but said: "Right now I'm with Dortmund and I'm very happy."

Pulisic joined Dortmund in early 2015 and made his first-team debut a year later. He has made a total of 31 competitive appearances for Dortmund, scoring four goals and setting up a further seven.

There had been suggestions Pulisic would seek a move last summer amid doubts over his first-team prospects, but he has established himself as an important part of coach Thomas Tuchel's squad this season and was selected ahead of Germany international Mario Gotze for Saturday's 2-1 win over Werder Bremen.

He is one of a number of highly talented young players at the club along with Ousmane Dembele, Emre Mor, Felix Passlack and Germany international Julian Weigl, who signed a new contract through to 2021 before Christmas despite links with Real Madrid and Manchester City.

"We are delighted that after Julian Weigl we have tied another extraordinarily talented player to a long-term deal," Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said.

"Christian already has a big standing in the dressing room and just like Julian Weigl can grow into a cornerstone of our sporting future."

Earlier on Monday, Dortmund completed the transfer of 17-year-old Sweden international Alexander Isak.

Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke announced in November that the Bundesliga side are set to embark on their first tour of the United States in the summer of 2018.
