Carlos Tevez likely to choose Chinese Super League - Boca Juniors president

Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici is resigned to the idea of losing star forward Carlos Tevez as the former Manchester United and Manchester City player considers a tempting offer from China.

Tevez is considering an offer to join Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua that sources have told ESPN FC is worth a world-record £615,000 ($760,632) per week.

Angelici told La Red Radio, as reported in La Nacion newspaper: "I have a very close relationship with Carlos and my hunch is that it will be very difficult for him not to leave. As a fan and as the [club] president, I want him to stay, but when one looks at the numbers and the offer that he has from China, it's very strong. It's almost impossible that he will continue."

Tevez, 32, is under contract with Boca until June 2018 and was given a standing ovation at the Bombonera stadium after being substituted in the 90th minute in Sunday's 4-1 win over Colon. During that game in which Tevez scored his team's second goal, Boca fans chanted: "Carlitos [Tevez] is Boca's and will not leave Boca."

The Buenos Aires-born player, who returned to his boyhood club last July after two seasons at Juventus, recently spoke about the pressures of playing for Boca and hinted that he would be open to another experience abroad.

He said: "Abroad is different -- if I lose a game I can still take my daughters to school and have a normal life."

Ole newspaper reports that Tevez will announce his decision on Tuesday, following his three-day wedding celebrations to long-term girlfriend Vanesa, the mother of his children.

Tevez is expected to fly to China to finalise the move next month ahead of the start of the new Chinese season in February.

Angelici said that Tevez is not the only Boca player who could move to the Chinese Super League as Argentina midfielder Fernando Gago has received an offer from an unnamed club in the Far East.

Former Real Madrid player Gago's current deal with Boca expires in June, and Angelici said: "We are talking to his agent. He told us that he would prioritise Boca. He has an offer from China and if it's strong, we will not be able to compete."
