Wolfsburg director Klaus Allofs admits keeping Julian Draxler was wrong move

Wolfsburg director of sport Klaus Allofs says his club will listen to offers for Julian Draxler, although the Germany midfielder has not been transfer-listed.

Draxler was dropped from the squad for the Wolves' 5-0 defeat at Bayern Munich on Saturday after he once again expressed his desire to leave the club.

It looks increasingly likely that the 23-year-old will move on in the winter, or next summer at the latest, with Allofs admitting it would have been better to let him go when he first spoke about wanting to leave last summer.

"All that has changed is our basic stance compared to the summer, when we said that we did not want to sell him," Allofs told Sky Sports.

"That has proven not to have been a good decision, you've got to accept that now.

"If we are to receive an offer then we will consider it and see whether we react to it.

"We are not putting him up for sale or sticking a price tag on him, though, just to make that very clear."

Defeat to Bayern turned up the heat on Wolfsburg coach Valerien Ismael, who replaced Viktor Skripnik earlier this season.

This latest loss saw Wolfsburg fall to within just a point of the relegation zone and two of bottom-placed Darmstadt.

Ismael admitted his side deserved to lose and said Bayern were on a different level to his side.

"When you come to Munich, you need to have the self-confidence of some positive results behind you as they help give you belief that you can do something," said the former Bayern defender.

"But the way the game went just fits in with the overall picture for us at present.

"We cannot measure ourselves on what happened today, though. We need to focus on our last two games (of 2016) against Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach."
