West Bromwich Albion end interest in Liverpool's Mamadou Sakho - sources

West Bromwich Albion have ended their interest in Mamadou Sakho, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.

The Baggies had been considering a move for Liverpool outcast Sakho in January to bolster their defensive options, having initially shown an interest in the France international during the summer.

Manager Tony Pulis watched Sakho in action for the Liverpool under-23s against Derby, but sources told ESPN FC he has now ruled out a move for the centre-back.

Sakho has been frozen out under Jurgen Klopp this season and has been training with the U23s.

The 26-year-oldĀ has not featured for Liverpool since the end of April, when he was banned for failing a drugs test.

Although he was later cleared, he was sent home early from a preseason U.S. tour for disciplinary reasons.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested he is ready to let Sakho leave when the transfer window reopens.
