Sead Kolasinac focused on Schalke amid reported Premier League interest

Sead Kolasinac has not ruled out a Premier League transfer once his contract at Schalke expires next summer and believes his style of play may be suited to English football.

Kolasinac, 23, came through the ranks of Schalke's Knappenschmiede, the club's famous youth academy and has been an unexpected success story at the Veltins-Arena, helping the club recover from a poor start by scoring one goal and setting up four more from his wing-back position.

The Germany-born Bosnia international is yet to agree to a new contract amid links to several English clubs including Liverpool and Chelsea in recent weeks but he has not thought about his future.

"There is nothing new to report. My agent and the club are in contact," Kolasniac told Bild. "To be honest. I have not thought about it. It has no priority for me. Currently I am a Schalke player, and want to continue to play a good season.

"Many say my style of play would fit well in England. But if I move abroad, not only the club changes, but you leave your environment, need to build something new. It's a difficult step which has to be well-considered. The gut feeling decides, and I also need to talk to my family."

Schalke, meanwhile, remain hopeful to tie Kolasinac to a new deal, and coach Markus Weinzierl believes the club's new 3-5-2 formation brings out the best in him.

"I think you can see how well he feels in our formation, also because he has Matija Nastasic as cover, and all of the three-man defence behind him," he said. "As a consequence, he's more courageous in the direct duels, but also going forward."
