Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos dismisses Barcelona talk

Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos has said he wants to "make his life in Paris" despite interest from Barcelona.

Marquinhos has established himself in the starting lineup since David Luiz returned to Chelsea in the summer, striking up a solid partnership with captain and compatriot Thiago Silva.

The 22-year-old, also a regular starter for Brazil, told Canal Football Club that "everything is going well" and played down speculation that he could push for a move to the Camp Nou.

"An offer from Barcelona? PSG have always had great faith in me," he said. "Towards the end of last season, I started to get more game time.

"Would I say no to Barcelona? I have no need to tell them anything, because PSG will not sell me.

"Could I join the Catalans later? For now, I want to make my life in Paris if everything continues like this. I am really good in Paris right now."

Marquinhos is expected to be offered an improved contract to reflect his rise to starter status, with his current deal due to expire in 2019.

He has urged the club to do everything possible to ensure that Silva stays.
