Joao Cancelo happy at Valencia amid links with Man Utd, Barcelona, Atletico

Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo says he is happy at the club but does not know where his future lies.

Cancelo, 22, is in his third year at Valencia and has impressed in his six La Liga starts this season.

Reports in Spain claim Manchester United have joined in the race to sign the Portugal international, with Spanish media also claiming Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are interested.

"I feel good. I don't know where my future will be but I'm very comfortable at Valencia," Cancelo, under contract at Valencia until June 2021, is quoted as saying by Superdeporte. "Things are going well for me but I have to continue to work because things can change from one day to the next."

Cancelo, who made his senior debut with Portugal in August, has already experienced a change at Valencia this season, with the club sacking coach Pako Ayestaran after four straight defeats to open the campaign. Former Italy coach Cesare Prandelli was appointed earlier this month to become Valencia's ninth coach since 2012.

Prandelli started his tenure on the right foot with a 2-1 win at Sporting Gijon on Sunday, a game in which Cancelo shone. The win at El Molinon stadium was Valencia's third of the campaign and allowed them to climb out of La Liga's bottom three.

"Prandelli is a humble coach, who is willing to work hard and that is transmitted to the team," Cancelo said. "He has told us that we all have to help in defence and in attack."

Valencia have struggled at both ends of the pitch this term, mustering just 11 goals in eight games, while they had just three shots on goal against Sporting. They have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their opening eight games.

"Life is about learning and we have to continue to work hard to turn things around," Cancelo said. "The important thing is to be a unit, to have an identity and we are slowly acquiring that. We have to work so that the teams fear us."

Valencia take on the best attack in La Liga on Saturday when Barcelona arrive at the Mestalla.

Barca go into the encounter on the back of a 4-0 home triumph over Manchester City in the Champions League, which saw Lionel Messi score a hat trick.

"It's a special game," Cancelo said. "Barcelona have the best players in the world and we will need to be very focused. It's a difficult game but it's not an impossible one to win.

"Last season we arrived to the Camp Nou at a difficult time and we won. We can't wait for the game to start. I hope I can help the team and if I score, it would be fantastic."
