Wes Brown signs for Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer

Blackburn Rovers have signed former Manchester United defender Wes Brown on a free transfer.

Brown, 36, had been training with the Championship club since the beginning of preseason and has now penned a deal until the end of the current campaign.

The former England international, who was at Sunderland last season, will also spend time helping coach Blackburn's under-23 side.

Brown started his career with United, joining aged 12, and went on to make over 350 appearances for the club, while winning four Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, two FA Cups and three League Cups.

He joined Sunderland in 2011, where he spent five years before being released in the summer.
