AC Milan to offer Gianluigi Donnarumma new deal - Montella

AC Milan coach Vincenzo Montella says he does not care what agent Mino Raiola's plans are for Gianluigi Donnarumma as he prepares to offer the goalkeeper a new contract.

Donnarumma, 17, made his Italy debut earlier this month and has already caught the eye of several of Europe's top clubs.

In a bid to fend off interest in the young goalkeeper, Montella says he intends to tie Donnarumma down to a longer contract than the one he is currently on, which expires in 2018, and his agent Raiola is not going to have any influence over that.

"Milan are dead set on continuing with Gigi," Montella told a news conference ahead of his side's midweek clash with Lazio. "Raiola's from the south of Italy like I am and like Donnarumma is, so I'm sure he'll sign regardless of Raiola.

"I smile when I say this because I know that Mino is good at his job, just like I know that Milan's management are also good at their jobs."

Donnarumma became Milan's No. 1 just under a year ago when then-coach Sinisa Mihajlovic promoted him while he was still just 16. He has held down his place between the Milan posts since and became the youngest ever goalkeeper to debut for Italy in a recent friendly against France.
