Paris Saint-Germain's Thiago Silva not in line for AC Milan return - agent

Thiago Silva's agent has denied the Paris Saint-Germain captain's former club, AC Milan, has been in contact over a potential move back to the Rossoneri.

Silva's PSG contract expires at the end of the 2016-17 campaign, though an automatic one-year extension upon the club's qualification for next season's Champions League could be triggered this term.

The Brazil defender, who turns 32 on Sept. 22, has made little secret of his love for Milan where he spent three seasons prior to his 2012 summer switch to Paris.

However, his agent, Paulo Tonietto, told calciomercato.it neither his former nor his current club have been in touch to discuss Silva's future.

"When the contract of a player like Thiago Silva is due to expire, it's normal there is transfer speculation, but as of today, there has been no contact with Milan," Tonietto said, before adding negotiations with PSG were also not on the horizon.

"Right now, there is nothing on that front."

L'Equipe reported on Friday that Silva was unhappy with the lack of progress on a contract extension.

The paper reiterated that the player was also disappointed PSG had not allowed him to participate in the Olympic football tournament, which Brazil won on home soil. Silva's club teammate, Marquinhos, was given permission to play in Rio de Janeiro.

Brazilian media outlet UOL reported earlier this week that Milan's new Chinese owners are keen to bring Silva back as one of their marquee signings, and have been encouraged by PSG's lack of forward progress on prolonging their captain's stay at the Parc des Princes.

Since arriving in France, Silva has made frequent reference to the happiness he experienced in Milan.

"I miss Italian football because it's the one I have always loved, that I watched when I was little," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport in 2014. "When I was at Milan, I was very happy to play in Serie A. I hope to go back there one day."
