Tottenham's Ryan Mason joins Hull City for club record fee

Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason has joined Hull City for a club record fee, the club has confirmed.

Mason, 25, slipped behind Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele in Spurs' pecking order and made just eight league starts last season in an injury-hit campaign.

Now Spurs' signing of Victor Wanyama in an £11 million deal from Southampton has further blocked Mason's path to the first-team, so he has opted to move on, signing a three-year deal at the KCOM stadium.

"I'm delighted and excited to be here," said Mason. "I can't wait to get started and I see this as a massive opportunity for me."

Hull have struggled to sign anyone this summer with only goalkeeper David Marshall arriving but they won both of their opening Premier League fixtures against Leicester and Swansea with just 13 fit senior players.

The club have spent over £10m on Mason, breaking their previous record when Abel Hernandez joined from Palermo.
