Burnley close to signing Chelsea's Patrick Bamford on loan - Sean Dyche

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford is set to join the club on loan.

The Clarets boss was speaking after his side were beaten 3-0 by the Blues in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

And Dyche is confident that a move for the England under-21 international will be completed imminently.

"It's looking that way," Dyche told reporters. "It's not quite done, but it's looking that way."

After scoring 17 goals for Middlesbrough two seasons ago, the 22-year-old struggled on loan at Crystal Palace and Norwich last term, failing to net a goal.

Bamford will now hope to compete for a place up front with Andre Gray and Sam Vokes after the international break, with Burnley next facing Hull at Turf Moor on Sept. 10.

Meanwhile, Burnley suffered a reality check in Saturday's loss at Stamford Bridge after their shock 2-0 win against Liverpool last week.

Dyche said their own mistakes left them with little hope.

"When the whistle blows you want to be ready to perform but we weren't," Dyche said. "We didn't perform well in the first half and you cannot do that.

"Add in some really poor decisions against a very strong side then you're going to be in trouble and we were.

"We gave the ball away awfully. There were too many poor decisions. We gave away the ball for the second goal, Tom Heaton rolls it out and there was no need. It put us under pressure.

"You can't make bad decisions like that against teams like this."
