Leeds have announced the signing of Liam Bridcutt from Sunderland on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee. United have been chasing the Scotland midfielder ever since his successful loan spell with the club last season and have finally been able to tie him down. "It feels good, it's been a long time coming, been dragged out but now it's done and we can concentrate on playing football," Bridcutt told the club's official website. "I enjoyed myself here last season, the boys made me feel welcome and it was a club I enjoyed playing for. I was very happy here, now we have new management and the persistence from Leeds was all I wanted." The 27-year-old was nominated for Leeds' player of the year award last season, despite spending less than half of the campaign at Elland Road. His signing comes too late to make him available for Tuesday night's clash with Fulham, with his second debut now likely to come at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. Manager Garry Monk added: "I'm very pleased to have Liam on board. When I first came into the club, I analysed all the games from last season and Liam contributed really well. "He has that bit of leadership and personality that will help the group. I'm very pleased to have him through the door -- I know what he's capable of." Bridcutt made 36 appearances for Sunderland, the first of which came in a 3-0 derby victory over Newcastle. Meanwhile, talk of a takeover of Leeds fronted by Italian Andrea Radrizzani continues, with further reports linking the entrepreneur with a Chinese-backed buyout of current owner Massimo Cellino. United have yet to respond.
