Inter Milan's Eder 'never considered' offers from elsewhere

Inter Milan forward Eder says he never entertained the idea of leaving the Nerazzurri this summer, even if he had the opportunity to do so.

The Italy international struggled to settle into his new surroundings since moving to Inter from Sampdoria on a two-year loan in January. After scoring 12 goals in 19 games for the Genovese club in the first half of last season, he found the back of the net only once in 14 games for Inter.

He was nevertheless named by Antonio Conte in Italy's squad for Euro 2016, and he was a regular in the Squadra Azzurra's side in France. Offers came in for him, including a lucrative one from China, but he insists he never once thought about abandoning Inter.

"I read about this interest from China too, but honestly I never considered it," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "In fact, to tell the truth I received two or three offers from top clubs, but I wanted to stay at Inter because I feel an important part of the project here.

"This is a big club and when you are in such a big club, one of the strengths is the competition among the players which only increases the quality of their work."

Eder added that he did not regret making the move to Inter last January, even if it may not have worked out in terms of goals scored.

"I was still happy with my performances, even if I had scored more in Genoa," the 29-year-old said. "An attacker does other things as well as scoring goals. I learnt a lot in this period and I also learnt a lot from Roberto Mancini."

With Mancini now gone, Eder is learning from Ronald De Boer, who he says has already made changes since taking charge last week.

"Every coach has his own ideas and De Boer has also come from a different league to the Italian one and he has his own identity," Eder said. "We have understood what he wants and now we have to put his ideas into practice.

"He wants his team to be compact all the time, both defensively and attacking. He's asked us to put pressure on the man on the ball and he wants us to win back possession in our opponents' half."
