Racing forward Lautaro Martinez confirms Real Madrid, Valencia interest

Lautaro Martinez of Racing Club says Real Madrid and Valencia are interested in signing him, but he does not want to leave Argentina for Europe just yet.

Martinez, 18, claims that his €8 million release clause was too expensive for Madrid, who had hoped to take him on loan for the season first.

He was in L'Alcudia in Spain this month playing for Argentina in a youth tournament, where his performances reportedly attracted the attention of Los Blancos and La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid and Valencia.

Earlier this month, Racing president Victor Blanco said they would not be against loaning the player, but the deal must include "an option to buy for a high price."

"It is true that I received a rough draft of an offer from Real Madrid to play a year on loan, with an option to buy," Martinez told Marca. "But my buy-out clause was a bit high at €8 million. If they really want me, they'll have to pay that amount as Racing won't accept anything less.

"I'm constantly talking with the president of my club and I know that my coach is counting on me for the season.

"At this moment, I'd like to learn more here before making the move to Europe. I got to Racing in 2014 and I'm still getting used to playing in the first division. For now, Racing remain the priority.

"I know nothing from Atletico but Valencia, after signing Rodrigo de Paul in the past, have been trying to buy three Racing youngsters: Fernando Valenzuela, Braian Mansilla, and myself."
