Barcelona's Martin Montoya and Cristian Tello not part of Gomes deal

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has admitted Martin Montoya and Cristian Tello could join Valencia, but that they are separate to the deal that brought Andre Gomes to the Camp Nou.

Barca announced late last Thursday night that they had agreed to sign Los Che midfielder Gomes, 22, without giving any details of the fee, and reports suggested that Montoya and/or Tello could be included in a deal.

However, on Tuesday, Barca released a statement saying the fee involved was €35 million plus two potentials sets of incentives worth €20m and €15m. Valencia then finally released a club statement when the Portugal international had already completed his medical at the Camp Nou on Wednesday morning.

And, speaking at the news conference as Barca's new midfielder was presented, sporting director Fernandez confirmed talks with Valencia about Montoya and Tello, but insisted that if a transfer were agreed it would be completely separate to the Gomes deal.

"Andre Gomes move has nothing to do with any possible move of a Barca player to Valencia," Robert said. "There is nothing done yet. We are talking about two Barca players, who have offers from many teams.

"Montoya did well at Inter [Milan] and [Real] Betis last year, and Tello the same at Porto and Fiorentina. But we must wait and see what the decision is over the future. But any move to Valencia would have nothing to do with the Andre transfer."

Winger Tello, 24, and right-back Montoya, 25, -- are both graduates of Barca's La Masia academy but have been unable to nail down a first-team place and are deemed surplus to requirements.
