Leicester City target Michael Keane rejects new Burnley contract - sources

Former Manchester United youngster Michael Keane has turned down a new Burnley contract amid interest from Premier League champions Leicester City, a source has told ESPN FC.

Leicester have made two bids already for centre-back Keane as they look to bolster their defensive options ahead of next season.

But Burnley have rebuffed both offers in the hope of keeping their central defender as they prepare for life back in the Premier League next season.

However, Keane has reportedly rejected an improved contract offer from the Clarets, offering Leicester hope of securing their target.

Former England under-21 international Keane was instrumental in helping Burnley win promotion to the Premier League last season, missing just one game as the Clarets won the Championship title.

Keane enjoyed a loan spell at Leicester during the 2012-13 season, featuring 27 times for the Foxes, and they have continued to keep tabs on the former Manchester United youngster since.
