Belgium manager Marc Wilmots says it is no surprise that Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly on the verge of signing Club Brugge right-back Thomas Meunier.
Meunier, currently away with Belgium at Euro 2016, is wanted by PSG as a replacement for Gregory van der Wiel, who left the French champions at the end of the season after his contract expired.
Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, Wilmots revealed that he had granted Meunier, 24, time off on Tuesday so that the defender could "make a trip."
It is reported that Meunier travelled to Paris to discuss a potential €7 million transfer, and Wilmots thinks that PSG should have all the information they need on a player who has excelled for Belgium in France.
"If PSG want a player, it's because they've informed themselves enough," Wilmots said. "They have a good scouting department -- they're not blind."
Napoli were also thought to be interested in Meunier, who would compete with Serge Aurier for the right-back slot if he joins PSG.
Meunier helped Brugge become Belgian champions for the first time in 11 years last season.
With Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi also expected to complete a move to Chelsea this week, Wilmots is happy to see that his players are being rewarded for their ability.
"It's great for my players -- it means that we've worked well," he said.
