Barcelona star Daniel Alves completes free transfer to Juventus

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has signed for Serie A champions Juventus on a two-year contract, with the option for a third year.

Alves, 33, still had one year left on his Barca contract but the club agreed to grant him a free transfer to join Juve and he flew into Turin on Sunday evening for a medical and to complete the formalities of the deal.

Alves confirmed at the start of the month that he would join Juventus after eight trophy-filled seasons at Barcelona.

Alves won six La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues and a total of 23 honours.

In a statement confirming the news on their official website Juventus described the player as "among the greatest wing-backs of his generation" and "a natural-born winner."

Alves made 239 appearances in La Liga for Barcelona, the second-highest for a foreign player, including 29 during the 2015-16 campaign.

Juventus have already completed the signing of midfielders Miralem Pjanic from Roma and Mario Lemina from Marseille this summer.
