Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi intending to stay at San Siro

Mauro Icardi has said he is focused on Inter Milan, although he is not ruling out a move away if he is not part of the club's plans.

Icardi, 23, joined Inter from Sampdoria back in 2013 and has since grown in stature at the Nerazzurri, with the 2015-16 season seeing him replace Andrea Ranocchia as the team's captain.

However, the Argentina international has attracted interest from elsewhere and in the past he's not ruled out a move away from the San Siro.

"As I have always said, I am still here and I have a contract until 2019," said Icardi to Sky Sport Italia.

"Although if the board decide that they want to go in another direction then we must speak about it before. We still have time.

"We met with the owners the last time they visited the club, but I have not had the opportunity to speak properly with any of them.

"I arrived back two days ago [from missing out on a spot in Argentina's Copa America squad] and now we will slowly start to prepare and aim to do our best for Inter.

"Like I have always said, Inter deserve to be in Europe. We tried to do it last year and now we must start on the right foot for next season."
