Chelsea's Pedro 'wouldn't rule out' Barcelona return

Chelsea winger Pedro Rodriguez has revealed that he would like to return to Barcelona before the end of his career.

Pedro left Camp Nou to join Chelsea in a £21 million deal last summer, having grown disillusioned with a lack of first-team opportunities. He made 40 appearances in all competitions for the Blues last season, registering eight goals and two assists.

But despite insisting last month that he does not regret his decision to leave Barcelona, the 28-year-old is refusing to rule out the possibility of one day returning to the club where he won 11 major trophies in seven years, including three Champions League triumphs.

"I hope so," Pedro told beIN Sports when asked if he would like to go back to Barcelona.

"I know it is difficult. I spoke with the president [Josep Maria Bartomeu] when we saw each other at the Copa del Rey final and I also spoke with all my friends there.

"It is complicated, but I have always said that I would have liked to retire at Barça. I know it is difficult as the years go by and Barca have the best players in the world. It is a very demanding club. To return is difficult, but I would not rule it out.

"I spent 11 or 12 years in Barcelona, my family is from there and also many friends.

"The fans loved me a lot, I felt very valued by the club, and it is always difficult to leave the club of your dreams. In the end I had to take the decision as I could see that my chances were running out."

Pedro is currently representing Spain at Euro 2016, and came on as a substitute as Vicente del Bosque's men kicked off their tournament defence with a 1-0 win over Czech Republic in Toulouse on Monday.
