Ajax coach Frank de Boer eyeing 'club like Everton or Valencia' - agent

Frank de Boer would be interested in joining clubs of the stature of Premier League side Everton and La Liga outfit Valencia if he leaves his job at Ajax, according to the Dutchman's agent.

De Boer, 45, has led Ajax to four Eredivisie titles since taking over from Martin Jol in December 2010 but lost out on the championship this season, with PSV Eindhoven pipping them to the trophy on the final day of the season on Sunday.

Everton boss Robert Martinez is under scrutiny with his side managing just one win of their last nine Premier League matches. Bill Kenwright and new Goodison Park shareholder Farhad Moshiri met in April to discuss the Spaniard tactician's future at the club.

In Spain, Valencia are also coming to the end of a disappointing season in which they have changed manager twice and are destined to finish in mid-table under Pako Ayesteran.

De Boer's representative, Guido Albers, revealed that his client would be interested in taking on the kind of challenge that those clubs would represent.

"He'd love to join a club like Everton or Valencia," Albers told NOS before Sunday's final round of matches.

"It's all about the right philosophy and how they play football. That is what Frank is looking for.

"I have told Ajax that there is no other club and I have not held discussions with anyone."

De Boer's current contract at Ajax expires at the end of next season.
