Watford hope to sign Saido Berahino from West Brom this summer - source

Watford are ready to join the chase for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino this summer, a source close to the Hornets has told ESPN FC.

Berahino's future at West Brom is set to be the subject of speculation again this summer when the transfer window reopens.

The 22-year-old was involved a bitter transfer wrangle last summer with Tottenham seeing several offers rejected for the former England under-21 international.

West Brom's refusal to agree a deal with Tottenham led to Berahino handing in a transfer request on deadline day, but he has since repaired the breakdown in relations at the Hawthorns.

West Brom managed to keep hold of Berahino in the January transfer window, but they are bracing themselves for further interest this summer especially with the striker entering the final year of his contract.

Watford are looking to bring in a high-profile striker this summer as they look to build on a successful first season back in the Premier League.

The Hornets have struggled for goals whenever their front pair of Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney have failed to find the net, making Berahino an ideal addition to their squad.
