Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain monitored by Man United - source

Manchester United are ready to join the chase for Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, a source close to the player has told ESPN FC.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's long-term future at Arsenal has been the subject of speculation for some time with the player struggling to hold down a regular place in Arsene Wenger's side.

England international Oxlade-Chamberlain has found himself down the pecking order at Arsenal when fit and the recent emergence of Alex Iwobi has only increased competition for places in Wenger's midfield.

It has been reported that Arsenal boss Wenger is open to offers for Oxlade-Chamberlain and other fringe players this summer as he plans to overhaul his squad at Emirates Stadium.

A source told ESPN FC last month that Liverpool were actively monitoring Oxlade-Chamberlain's situation at Arsenal, while a source has also said that Manchester City and West Ham United are keen on the player.

United have made a new winger one of their top summer transfer priorities this summer and a source close to Oxlade-Chamberlain's camp has told ESPN FC that the Old Trafford club have asked to be kept informed of the player's situation this summer.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who joined Arsenal from Southampton in 2011, could be open to the idea of a move away from the Emirates if he is not going to be playing regular first-team football next season.
