Sleepless Mats Hummels sets date to decide Borussia Dortmund future

Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels has already set a date to decide on his future after admitting that the tough decision has been keeping him up all night.

The German defender has an option to extend his contract beyond next season, but with some of the top European clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona chasing his signature, Hummels must decide if he wants to seek greener pastures abroad.

There were no signs of Hummels being distracted on Wednesday, when he led Dortmund to a 3-0 semifinal win over Hertha Berlin in the DFB-Pokal, to seal a place in the final where they will come up against Bayern Munich.

"I've set a date [for my decision]. But I'm keeping it to myself," Hummels told Sky Deutschland. "It's costing me half an hour before bed every night."

While he may be uncertain about his future, Hummels was sure about his side's impressive performance against Hertha, and claims that Dortmund fully deserves they chance to play in the final.

"Everything went to plan. A very strong performance from us. Fully deserved to be in the final."

The highly-anticipated final between the two Bundesliga giants will be played on May 21 at the Olympiastadion.
