Francesco Totti still rated by Roma coach Luciano Spalletti

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has said Francesco Totti could still appear for his side again this season, insisting he is showing the Giallorossi captain more respect than most.

Totti, 39, has featured only occasionally since Spalletti replaced Rudi Garcia as Roma coach, playing just over an hour under the former Zenit St Petersburg boss.

The forward accused Spalletti of showing a lack of respect for him back in February, and was consequently dropped from the squad for the 5-0 win over Palermo.

Totti's future remains unclear with his contract up for renewal this summer, but Spalletti said at a news conference in Rome: "I like Francesco and we're both running in the same direction for the good of Roma.

"I treat Totti like a true footballer, like not many people do. I will pick him if he gives me more possibilities than anybody else."

Spalletti added that the same applies to every member of his squad, including Edin Dzeko.

"He's training really well, like everybody has to do," he said. "Then I make up my mind on a game-by-game basis."

The Bosnian has been only a substitute in four of Roma's last five games, although he scored in the 2-1 win over Udinese and 4-1 win over Lazio last weekend.

Dzeko has scored eight goals in Serie A this season, while Totti has a single strike to his name.
